The Journey

The route! A frequently asked question, by the people we meet as well as by us! We wanted to travel and discover different cultures. Our journey built itself from the contacts we established with the child-focused associations but also from our wishes. Here is a map of it:

South America

Brazil : (November 2008)

Brazil First step, Brazil, especially Rio de Janeiro and its mythical Copacabana beach. Landing scheduled on the 30th of October. We will firstly stay 3 weeks in Rio de Janeiro, in the association Terra'tiva. Then we will take the direction of Buenos Aires following the Costa Verde. A few stops are planned in Porto Alegre and São Paulo where we will meet some friends of ours at the São Paulo's university.

Argentina (December 2008)

Argentine We may leave with regrets the country of samba to go to Argentina. More precisely, we will be heading to Buenos Aires where we will spend three weeks in the association called Fundamind. A new culture is welcoming us: objective Tango! After the Christmas celebrations, the band will head toward Chile.

Chile (beginning of January 2009)

Chile Our meeting point with our contact in Chile is the Metropolitan Technologic University of Santiago de Chile, another partner university of Centrale Lille. We will then hit the road again towards Peru after visiting the coastal city of Valparaiso. This will mark the beginning of our crossing of the Andean Range. More than 24h of bus...

Peru (February 2009)

Peru It is in Arequipa that we will spend most of our time in the association ‘Bambins des Bidonvilles’ (Kids of the slums). This city will be the starting point for some inevitable hiking like the Machu Picchu or the Titicaca Lake but we will surely move away from those touristic roads. Arequipa will end our journey in Latin America. We will all then be perfectly fluent in Spanish… or not.

Asia

Thaïland (March 2009)

Thaïlande Wonder is waiting for us at our arrival in Asia. We will be welcomed by CCD, an association near Bangkok. After three weeks of musical awakening workshops, we will take the road again towards new adventures: towards Cambodia.

Cambodia (April 2009)

Cambodia It is in Cambodia's capital city, Phnom Penh, that we will stay during three weeks. In Cambodia we will work with the Sok Sabay Association, one of the first associations to accept our visit. Our path will lead us next to the AngKor temple then will get back to Bangkok to take the plane for New Delhi!

India (May 2008 - Half June 2009)

India India is almost a continent by itself. For climatic reasons we chose to get to Ladakh, in the extreme north of the country. Indeed the temperatures in New Delhi approximate 50°C! This stop may be one of the most ‘exotic’. More than 4 weeks in the Himalaya, with passes at more than 5000m (16400 f.) of altitude are awaiting us. There the Association Juley, children of Ladakh, will welcome us!

Africa

Kenya (Half June - Half July 2009)

Kenya We will enter the third and last continent through Kenya. We will be well-prepared by all the workshops we will be doing all year long so we will be more efficient to handle the workshops in an association in Nairobi. And, with luck, we will see the «Big Five» (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, rhino)

Tanzania (Half July - Half August 2009)

Tanzanie Tanzania will be the last stop on our long trip, already ! For this last country, after a detour near the famous Kilimandjaro, we will meet up with Mkombozi association in Arucha.
